Want to Make Money Selling Gold?
If so, we'll teach you how to turn old, unwanted and broken gold jewelry and other gold items into cold hard cash by hosting gold home parties and gold buying events... and it's easy to do!
Where To Sell Used Gold
You've seen the
'cash for gold' ads,
'turn your used gold into extra cash' billboards and the
'mail us your used gold jewelry and we'll make you rich' commercials on late night TV that tell you
now is the time to sell your gold.
What are they trying to tell us?
The message should be pretty clear. The economy is crap and...
the price of gold is at an all time high.
So, dig out all the
old gold jewelry and any other gold items you may have. You know, the gold things you don't want, don't need, don't like... the broken, mismatched and scrap gold jewelry and gold items you can comfortably part with for some cold hard cash you can actually spend.
Make sure its stuff you don't have any sentimental value attached, cause all your old gold is going to be melted down as scrap gold and recycled.
Turning old gold into cash sounds like a really good idea in these tough economic times we are living, but there are some things you should know. That is why online gold and gold party websites and blogs like
Gold Parties Canada,
Gold Home Parties,
Host a Gold Party and
Gold Parties at Home exist.
These gold party web properties are there to help you make an informed choice when it comes to
selling your gold,
hosting a gold party or building a gold party business.
Gold buying events come in as many forms as there are gold dealers hosting them. You can even host a gold buying event for charity, schools, your place of employment or any other fundraiser or organization with a cause.
There are even
gold selling parties and gold selling events where you can socialize, meet new friends, snack and sip Chardonnay or any other beverage of choice... all the while putting money in your pocket selling old gold jewelry, gold fillings, gold coins, gold goblets and anything else with gold in it that you simply no longer want.
For decades now, the typical
'home product party' meant your guests had to buy something or the host of the party didn't make anything for their efforts. But with home gold parties, its different. When you host a gold party at home and invite friends, neighbors, family members and even co-workers... everyone can leave their wallets and purses at home cause there is nothing to buy!
Instead, every guest has the opportunity to go home with money they didn't have before the party, to pay bills, may the mortgage or rent, take the family out for dinner... or anything else they want to spend the new found money on.
Some
gold home parties have a gold vendor present who actually weighs and evaluates the gold items you wish to sell and then makes you a cash offer on the spot. Other gold parties simply collect all the used gold from the guest and send it in for evaluation.
Although both styles of gold party have proven to work, we recommend you stay away from the gold parties that send you gold away. Why wait to be paid for your gold. The whole idea of attending or hosting a gold party is so you can turn your old gold items into cash... right?
In Canada there is a great gold party company called
Gold Party Canada that pays the gold party host, and the guests, cash on the spot. They also have one of the best compensation plans around and currently are looking to expand into new areas and
train gold party hosts to be area gold party representatives for the 'Gold Party Canada' name.
In the US,
Fast Cash Gold Parties is doing exactly the same. In fact 'Gold Parties Canada' actually was the result of 'Fast Cash Gold Parties' going International.
How Much Am I Going To Be Paid?
To satisfy our own curiosity (here at
How to Make Money Selling Used Gold), we decide to do a gold selling experiment. What we did, was purchase two relatively inexpensive gold necklaces for a total of $123 and send them to various gold purchasing places to see how much we were offered.
We sent the two necklaces to two different cash for gold companies. We also took them to two different pawn brokers and to a jeweler. The pawnshops offered us $6 and $7. The jeweler offered us more at $10. The two Cash for Gold style places we mailed the gold to offered us $6.56 and $6.84.
Why the difference between the places? We are not sure. But so far the jewelry offered us the most, but then the necklaces we in fact brand new and the jewelry could see that and was likely going to resell them... not melt them down for scrap.
With that in mind, you would think the jewelry could have offered even more for the two necklaces. I mean how much markup is fair. As it is, that's 10 bucks for a pair of necklaces they could have easily resold for a hundred smackers... right?
The last thing we did was attend a
gold selling home party in Vancouver, BC Canada. We were offered fifty cents less than what the jeweler offer, and we could have been paid in cash... on the spot. But we had just purchased these beautiful necklaces and decided to return them to the store they were purchased from.
They didn't like that much, but hey... it was an experiment in selling gold.
Tips For Selling Used Gold
You'll find all kinds of tips for selling used gold and gold jewelry, hosting gold parties and building a gold party business or career, right here on the
How to Make Money Selling Used Gold blog. What follows is simply the a few common sense tips for you to think about.
- Remember, you are never under any obligation to sell your gold. You can take your gold to as many people as you choose and even negotiate the selling price.
- We recommend you try reputable gold buyers, gold dealers or jewelry stores. Preferably ones that come recommended by someone you know. If you choose to host or attend a gold selling home party, be sure the gold buyers are going to be present and that you will be paid in cash and on the spot.
- Find out if the gold purchasing firm is trustworthy before you hand over your gems. Talk to past clients or party guests, and by all means, check with the area Better Business Bureau.
- Get an appraisal first so you know if the jewelry pieces are maybe worth more as jewelry than scrap gold. If you think your jewelry might be worth more than $1000 you should definitely have it appraised.
- Don't part with any jewelry or gold item that has sentimental value or attachment. Guaranteed, you will regret it if you do. Unless you are extremely desperate for money, always keep what is meaningful to you.
Word is, that the next trend to help in the challenging times we live, is going to be selling your diamonds for cash. All this may put cash in your pocket when you need it and help pay the bills, but make sure you are getting a fair and realistic price before you sell.
